Press: Wedluxe Magazine

We were beyond words, when we found out that our gorgeous fascinator – Lady Paris graced the pages of Wedluxe Magazine’s – S/S12 Issue.  When we found out, we ran to the store to buy a copy! No lie, a few tears were shed.  Seeing one of my favourite pieces in one of the most elegantly beautiful magazines around, was literally a dream come true.

Thank you to Angela, Carolyn and all the other lovelies at Wedluxe Magazine who allowed us to be a part of this special issue

Victorian Vintage – Naz Films

When we shot the Victorian Vintage Collection back in September, we were so thrilled to learn that Nazar Melconian of Naz Films would be on location to shoot a Super 8mm for our Photographer Tara West, little did we know that Naz was going to put together a stunning teaser video of our shoot.  Naz surprised me with this video on Feb 17, and the tears just flowed.  Naz captured the absolute essence of the collection and the shoot and I was blown away by the tremendous gift that he had presented to me.

Naz comes HIGHLY recommended by me if you are looking for something so incredibly unique for your wedding day, honey moon, engagement shoot, birth, or whatever you believe deserves to be documented in such a creative, beautiful way.

Thank you Naz, words truly can’t express the love that I have for the beautiful work you have created.

Victorian Vintage 2012 Collection

Today is finally the day, the launch of Victorian Vintage, our 2012 Collection of Bridal and Whimsical Fascinators.

I’m so overjoyed to introduce this collection to you. Over the past 6 months, I have lived and breathed this collection. Its been at the centre of my thoughts both night and day and I’m so happy to finally share it with the world.

This collection was a very personal one for me. Normally when I begin a season, I start with a colour palette. That palette will introduce a theme, which will be brought to life with fabrics and materials, and then finally the designs will be born. This time, my collection began with a memory.

My memory, is of my Grandmother, or Nanny, as she was fondly named. I lost my Nanny 5 years ago to Alzheimer’s, but her spirit, her drive, her style and her history never left. My Nanny introduced me to fashion at a very young age. She was magnificent. Always aware of the latest trends and silhouettes, she kept my family well dressed and inspired. It was because of my Nanny that I followed a path into Fashion and I wish she could see where that path has led me, actually, I know she sees.

Nanny was with me every step of the way with this collection. Little things inspired me. Textures – her white Jacquard sofa that became my first university couch – inspired Lady Nightshade and Lady Wisteria. Vintage florals – her beautiful needle point stools and frames – inspired Lady Gardenia. The list goes on and on.

My Nanny also played a large role in our beautiful photo shoot. 99% of the props used in the shoot where treasures from her home. The Needle point table and stools – she handcrafted. The vintage frames – all graced her wall. The gorgeous leather chair – the chair she sat in at Hudson’s every day she worked and sold Fashion to glamourous ladies – the baby carriage – her doll carriage from the early 1900s.

I dedicate Victorian Vintage to Gladys Esther Mcleod (Dowling) and thank the incredible team of special people in my life who I hope will continue to inspire me.

Tara – Tara West Photography – for taking some truly breathstopping photos and bringing the vision to life.
Naz – Nazfilms – for capturing my vision in film. Incredibly captivating and hauntingly beautiful.
Nicole – Nicole Richards & Co – for bringing the look of vintage childlike innocence to life in the stunning makeup
Cathy - Strut Hair Salon – for creating stunning hair, absolutely reminiscent of years past.
Ievengia – Spot6 Model Management – for becoming the vision and creating gorgeous photos
Jem - Flawless Jemz – for creating a gorgeous second look and creating a beautiful childlike innocence in both hair and makeup
Stacy – Spot6 Model Management – for becoming the vision and creating gorgeous photos for our second look

And finally to Kyle – my fantastic boyfriend – who endured injury, late nights, and endless chatter of my collection to help create stunning scenes and overall be my rock through this all. xo

Thank you mom, dad, Devin and Sarah.
You are all my rocks and my biggest cheerleaders. Thank you for your never ending support.

Thank you to everyone in my life that helped make this collection possible. Tried pieces on, supported me through all the ups and downs and believed in Blair Nadeau Millinery.

Without further adieu, I present to you…

Blushing Bride: Caitlin

Last summer, we were re-acquainted with our high school choir friend, Amber Cunningham, while consulting with a mother of a bride at Starbucks in London.  We met by chance during my first consultation and took a few minutes to remember where we knew each other from…but then that was it! I was designing some beautiful fascinators for her quickly approaching wedding, for each of her bridesmaids.  One of those bridesmaids, happened to be Caitlin.  Fast forward 7 months later and I get an email all the way from Alberta, from Cailtin, asking me to design for her entire bridal party!  She had loved the piece she wore in Amber’s wedding so much, that she wanted to outfit all of her girls for her wedding!  Caitlin was such a pleasure to work with!  We designed the gorgeous Lady Blushing veil and Whimsical Fascinator in White with Sage Green for Caitlin.  Each of her bridesmaids received White Romance Fascinators with a Natural Peacock feather and her adorable flower girl (does she not look like Little Orphan Annie with that adorable hair!) a smaller version of Cailtin’s Whimsical fascinator, also in White and Sage Green, on a headband.

Caitlin’s photos are so beautiful from her day!  Thank you Caitlin for allowing us to design for you, not once, but twice, for two very special days

Blushing Bride: Jessica

We met with Jessica and her huge, but lovely entourage, just weeks before her wedding, and did she have a huge order for us!  We had so much fun designing gorgeous Eggplant and Black Whimsical Feather Fascinators for each of her girls.  A gorgeous Romance Peacock piece for her mom, a beautiful gold whimsical piece for her mother in law and 3 adorable crystal coral hair clips for her precious flower girls.  Lastly, but definitely not least, we created a gorgeous Whimsical Feather Fascinator and Lady Blushing Birdcage Veil for Jessica.  She looked absolutely breathtaking on her wedding day.

Thanks Jessica, for allowing us the pleasure to design for your on your day!

Blushing Bride: Tania

We met Tania at one of the many bridal shows we showed at last year.  The first time we met, we instantly hit it off.  Tania has such superb style, I knew that I would adore designing for her!  We started out our design process by designing a gorgeous custom Countess Whimsical Hair Bow with accents of crochet lace for her shower which she totally rocked!  We then designed a gorgeous Lady Damsel Veil and Whimsical Fascinator for her wedding day look.  We also designed gorgeous Romance Feather Fascinators in Nude for each of her girls.

Tania, you were a vintage beauty on your wedding day! Thank you for letting us design some stunning pieces together!
